Originally from Michigan, Jack Thompson was sailing and boating with his family on the Great Lakes at an early age. In 1982 moved with his mother and sister to Marblehead, Massachusetts and now permanently resides in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, about 50 miles north of Boston, where I have my office. 

After graduating in 1984, I attended the College of Charleston in Charleston South Carolina.
In 1997 after a three year apprenticeship with a Senior Marine Surveyor from Boston, I attended Navtech, a US Coast Guard approved Marine Surveyors school in Ft. Meyers Florida. After completion and passing both the Coast Guard Title 46 and Navtech exams with at least a 90% I earned my Master Marine Surveyor certification with Navtech/United States Surveyors Association.

Now going on 20 years in the marine industry serving as a Marine Surveyor, a Commercial Captain since 1992 with over 100, 000 hrs worth of sea time and the former supervisor at Boston Harbor Shipyard, my competence and professionalism are well known.
