Certified and Accredited Master Marine Surveyor - US Coast Guard Qualified
My qualifications and experience are with pre-purchase inspections, insurance surveys, financing appraisals and vessel damage reports. My surveys are referred and accepted by all major insurance carriers and financial institutions throughout the USA, Canada and Overseas. I survey fiberglass and wooden hull vessels, both sail and power.
My driving distance covers Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
INSURANCE SURVEYS: Most marine insurance carriers these days will require a survey from a professional marine surveyor before issuing a policy. The marine surveyor determines the condition and value of a vessel. I inspect the boat from stem to stern, I percussion sound the hull, inspect the wiring and fuel systems and overall safety and sea worthiness. It is a complete non-destructive evaluation of the vessel. I then put together all of this information and determine what my opinion is for risk of underwriting to the insurance company and any recommendations.
PRE-PURCHASE: My pre-purchase survey includes a complete and thorough inspection of the vessel. Just like an insurance survey, I inspect the fuel systems, electrical, percussion sound the hull and determine overall safety and sea worthiness of the boat. I offer gasoline engine compression testing and analysis. Most pre-purchase inspections I do involve compression testing and sea trials, it is the most complete way to determine a boats condition when considering a purchase.Even If you consider yourself to be knowlegable about boats, its best to have a professional survey it before you buy, the insurance company or bank will most likely ask for it anyway.
